Hosting

Here are some things to consider for the day you host:

• Edutator -- The purpose of The Edutator is to build community and provide fellows with a fun way to document their writing project experience. Take notes and pictures throughout the day. At the end of the day, work with your fellow host to create an issue of the Edutator. Make thirty (30) copies and bring to the group at the beginning of the next day.

• Food -- Bring breakfast and snacks for the entire group. Please make sure that there is enough food to last the entire day! :)

• Opening Moment -- Select a text (poem, short story, excerpt from book, video, song, etc.) that will prompt thinking. Read/show/play/etc. and then ask the fellows to write. You may ask them to write to a specific prompt or in a particular style, or you can leave it wide open. It's up to you! The purpose is simply to bring the group together and provide people with an opportunity to write and share.

• Closing Moment/Author's Chair -- The purpose of the closing moment is to bring the day to a close and to provide each other with a supportive audience to share writing with. Please ask for volunteers to read their work.
